Citizens Watching For Racial Profiling

The men and women of Phoenix, Arizona are on a hot pursuit with the Arizona state police. Recently, a bill was made law that officers were given the ability to ask for legal paperwork to determine whether or not a person was a legal citizen of the United States. Margarito Blanco has been following police officers with a video camera and paperwork to catch officers racial profiling. There are many opinions about this certain subject.

My opinion on this is straight forward. I believe that what this bill does is right. Arizona is losing billions and billions of dollars to pay for medical expenses for "citizens" that are really in fact illegal immigrants. Without this bill, the illegal immigrants will come straight into Arizona and find a place to live off of our taxpayers. The thing is, some Hispanic citizens are outraged by this. They believe this causes for racial profiling but what the state needs is to deport the illegal immigrants.

Car Bomb in NYC

Recently, a plot to bomb New York City was disrupted after bystanders and vendors that noticed something odd about the car. On Saturday night, many streets were evacuated on what they thought of was a bomb scare. They were correct. The FBI, NYPD, and bomb squad were called in to figure out what was going on. Inside the crowded backseat and trunk were three propane tanks, M-80 firecrackers, standard fertilizer, glass shards, and an alarm clock. Thankfully it did not detonate and everything was taken car of. Fasal Shahzad, 30, was later arrested at J.F.K. airport as he was on his way to Pakistan.

The part that really gets me is the credit that they go to. The plot wasn't uncovered by the police, FBI, or any government agency. It was uncovered by normal everyday people who were working at their jobs. A vendor selling merchandise. These are the people that deserve the credit for disrupting this plot. They are the heros. Sure, the NYPD and other officials deserve some credit. They knew what they were putting themselves into. And that was a terrorist situation.
